One of the most respected and environmentally protected species in Hawaii, the Sea Turtle ("HONU") is a contemporary symbol of Hawaii and its magestic landscape. It is illegal to touch Hawaiian Sea Turtles but you can enjoy touching and stroking your personal "Honu." This ceramic sea turtle is a creation of Mark White, one of the most accomplished potters in Hawaii. He maintains his commitment to functionality (use as a paperweight), as well as beauty, in each piece he designs. Due to the handcrafting of this item, each sea turtle is slightly different. In fact, Mark purposefully alters the facial expression of each turtle to give it "personality" thereby including a sense of whimzy. Each piece is high-fired with a glossy glaze. Each turtle is signed by the artist and is inscribed "Kauai Honu" on the bottom and is approximately 3 1/2 inches from head to tail and 3 inches from left to right flipper. What a great table decoration to create that special feeling of Hawaii or use the turtle as a functional paperweight or buy several to use as napkin weight holders for your next Hawaiian dinner party.
